I guess I could call myself a seasoned retailer....I'm proud to have experienced and worked for well known brands like Virgin, Vodafone, David Jones, The Body Shop, Sussan and World Kitchen. My retail days span more than 22 years which means I've spent more than half my life with you, the customer!
My first after school job at 15 years was in a commercial crossiant bakery and later on at another nearby bakery as a weekend supervisor making pies, custard squares, donuts and lamingtons...I can assure you I didn't bake anything for a long time after these stints.
During my retail years I have managed teams of up to 70, worked front line with the customer in kiosks, cornor stores, large factory outlet chains and black marble dept store floors. I've written retail operational bibles, set up new stores and assisted in many product launches here and in NZ. I've also been very lucky to work with some of the most inspirational business people including Sir Richard Branson.
Retail is in our blood and I have a passion for providing a service that continues to build a genuine rapport with customers, the customer is the backbone to any small business.
Outside the retail world I completed 7 years in Psychology and Zoology at Auckland University but that retail sales hook got me at a very young age! Later on down the track when my daughter was very young I also worked with the team at our local food and lifestyle magazine "In Macarthur Magazine" for 11 years where I worked with our awesome food and hospo. community. I appreciate all things LOCAL and I always love to share great local business and finds, you might even see me handing you a local business card or two when I see you! haha...
At age 6 from memory my baking journey began and I made that classic chocolate cake, bran muffins and lemon coconut slice. I could always substitute ingredients and had a good handle on flavour combos from the kitchen cupboard. My grandmother Clare was a beautiful baker and I would watch her and learn from her in the school holidays. She is a big inspiration for me creating C in C and keeping old fashioned handmade baking alive.
I love all things celebration and the art of giving to others through my handmade creations and my perfectly imperfect attention to detail.
